I was lucky enough to have attended Parson's School of Design and one of the greatest perks was that the newly established Interior Design Department was run by Parish*Hadley alum.
One of the most important days in my second year was when the chair of the department called me to say that I was to go to meet Mr. Hadley at the offices on 63rd Street. I had been working as an assistant to Bunny Williams and it was a great treat to go see the PH offices.
We met in one of the beautifully decorated rooms. Everything was faux marble, tables, walls every surface and it was FAUX.....there was no way marble could have looked like that, playful and colorful and thin. But the best part of my tour was seeing all of the drawings that Mr. Hadley had done thru the years. All were simply framed and hung along the hallway to his office. They changed the way I approached drawing. They were tools to get ideas across, simple, detailed, mind to hand to paper.
