What I'm Looking At Today: Antique Marble Vessels in Cukurcuma Cadessi

The charming Cukurcuma District in Istanbul is home to many antiques and vintage shops however, I was not enthralled by the quality of most of the antiques as I found them a bit too glitsy glam for my liking. I did however come across this wonderful shop near Faik Pasa Caddesi that sold vintage sinks. Don't ask me the name, I have no idea and there were no signs, but you cant miss it as you walk down the steep hill and turn left.

Beautiful patina on this solid piece of marble that was hollowed out to form a basin.

Similar basins in the Galatsaray  Hamam designed by Sinan 500 years ago.

I know where I'm getting my next sinks for country house mud rooms........wonder what they'll charge to ship........?
